JCSER Warns of Israel's Recent Measures Taken on the Palestinian Demographic Reality in East Jerusalem

Print PDF

JCSER warns of the implications of Israel's recent measures taken on the demographic balance in favor of the settlement presence in Occupied East Jerusalem.

The intensive construction in the Israeli settlements built on Palestinian lands in Jerusalem augmented the number of Jewish settlers during the first half of the year in the settlements of 'Nevi Yacoub', Pisgat Ze'ev' 'Adam' & Ghalmon', in addition to the ongoing increase in the number of settlers in 'Ma'ale Adumim', the largest Jewish settlement located on the eastern outskirts of Jerusalem.

During the first half of the year, there has been an increase in the number of Jewish settlers by 3,000. A large Israeli construction company has begun to market hundreds of settlement units in a new settlement, know as 'Nov Tsyon', currently under construction on the hills of Jabal Al-Mukabber, south of Jerusalem's Old City.

JCSER refers to announcements published recently in Israeli newspapers, offering Israelis to buy apartments in the new ettlement, which is planned to include in its first stage the construction of over 400 settlement units.

Over the past six months, the construction area has been expanded in the settlements of 'Nevi Yacoub' & 'Pisgat Ze'ev'. During the second half of the year, the construction of hundreds of housing units has begun.

According to JCSER's data, the number of Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem has risen to over 230,000, excluding those living outside the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem.

The isolation of Jerusalemite communities outside the 'Apartheid Wall' will eventually result in taking some 100,000 Palestinian Jerusalemites out from the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem. A few years later, they will lose their residency right, claiming that they live outside the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem.
