Hundreds of Dunums in Jerusalem's Old City Leaked to Settlement Societies through

Print PDF

The cooperation between the Israeli Land Department, 'Ateret Kohanim', and other active settlement societies in the Old City of Jerusalem and Silwan neighborhood has been for decades. Large areas of citizens' lands and properties inside the Old City and the adjacent neighbors, including Silwan, Ras Al-Ahmud, Sheikh Jarrah, Shu'fat, Beit Hanina & Nebi Samuel have been leaked. The leakage is largely attributed to this cooperation.

Commenting on a report published yesterday by 'Haaretz' daily newspaper on renting Palestinian lands to 'Ateret Kohanim' by the Israeli Land Department, JCSER noted that hundreds of dunums have actually been leaked to settlement societies nd Israeli contractors & construction companies.

In the Old City alone, cooperation between the Israeli Land Department & Jewish settlement societies resulted in the leakage of some 70 real estates with the help of local brokers who work with these societies for large amounts of money.

This particular activity is largely supported by the absentee property guardian, official Israeli departments and ministries, such as the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Jerusalem Municipality.

JCSER's legal unit is putting all its potential to follow up on the issue.
