Her Majesty's Council (Political & Press) Karen Mcluskie and Political & Press Officer Jumana Jaouni at the British Consulate-General paid yesterday a visit to the Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER). The two-member delegation was received by the Center's Director General.

JCSER's Director briefed the visiting delegation on Israel's human rights violations committed against East Jerusalem's Arab population. Violations include house demolitions, ID card confiscations, confiscation of the social and economic rights of Palestinian Jerusalemites, cutting of health insurance, and the economic pressure resulting from the exorbitant taxes imposed on citizens.

He also reviewed the Center's activities, its role in handling citizens' cases, and the difficulties faced by the Center just as other Palestinian institutions in East Jerusalem.

He called on Her Majesty to intervene to stop the Israeli practices and measures take against Palestinian Jerusalemites, to support and uphold the Arab Palestinian presence in Jerusalem, and to work hard to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian Jerusalemites.

On her part, Ms. Karen Mcluskie promised to follow up on these violations at all levels and try to find solutions
