Israeli police arrested a Palestinian resident of Beit Safafa and deported him to the West Bank on allegation that he resides in his Jerusalem home illegally.

Mohammad Salah was arrested on July 3, 2011 from his place of residency in Beit Safafa and was transferred to the Moria police station in Talpiot until the early hours of the next day. Later, he was transferred to east Ma'ale Adumim Settlement and was left in al-Sawahreh wilderness.

During his presence in the station, his investigator told him that his presence in his home was illegal, since he was a holder of West Bank ID cards.

Salah who lives with his family since many years, told JCSER, "The interrogator threatened to arrest me for six months in case the police returned and found me in my house."

It is worth mentioning that a group of Jewish settlers from Kiryat Arba Settlement took over part of his house in Beit Safafa last year on claims that they own it. Since then, Salah and two of his sons have been subjected to numerous abuses while trying to confront the settlers' attacks.
