Residents of Al Khas village east of Bethlehem were handed confiscation orders for 76 dunams of land behind the separation wall by Israeli occupation authorities, under the pretext that the land belongs to the Israeli Absentee Property Authority. The villagers have been banned from reaching this land since 2007 because of the wall. Residents say the orders were thrown into the land and found by the villagers, which said the land would be annexed to the Jerusalem municipality. The village council in cooperation with the settlement affairs ministry hired a lawyer to appeal the order, noting that the land in question is some of the most fertile land in the area.
