Israel's Civil Administration demolishes a Palestinian home in Anata

Print PDF

The Israeli so-called Civil Administration demolished on January 24 home of Ahmad Khalil Lahalyeh in Anata village, north occupied Jerusalem.

In his report to JCSER, Lahalyeh said: "On January 1, 1012, employees of the Israeli Civil Administration escorted by Israeli forces handed my wife and order to demolish our house within three days. Consequently, I went to an Israeli lawyer called Michael Sfard who in turn contacted the Civil Administration for more clarifications about the issue but he didn't receive any answer. I thought that the issue was normal, because Israeli forces usually deliver such orders to residents of the area."

He added, "On January 24, at 2:45 a.m. while I was asleep, I woke up on loud knocking at my door. When I opened the door, I saw Israeli forces escorting a bulldozer, and one of them told me that I had 10 minutes to evacuate the house. Therefore, I woke up my children during which Israeli forces raided the house with the workers who began to remove my furniture. However, when I protested their acts, seven soldiers attacked and beat me all over my body. When my 37-year-old wife tried to rescue me, one soldier beat her, causing her to suffer of pain in the arm. Then, soldiers dragged me together with members of my family out of the house under cold weather while we were in our sleeping clothes. I saw the workers throwing out my furniture and damaging most of it. Then, the bulldozer began the demolition which lasted for one and a half hour. I couldnt do anything but to stand watching my house being destroyed."

Lahalyeh is the breadwinner of 20-member family, including 13 children, most of whom are under 18. The house was built on area of 120 sq. meters.
