Israeli bulldozers demolished on January 23, an iron sheet house occupied by the Bedouin family of Yusef Jahaleen in Anata neighborhood of Wa'ar al-Deek.

Jahaleen said in his report to JCSER: "While I was asleep with my family inside our house which locates inside the Bedouin community, southeast Anata, I woke up on sounds of car engines and barking of the dog. When I got out of the house to check what was going on, I saw more than a hundred Israeli soldiers besieging the area accompanying one big bulldozer. One of the soldiers asked me if I owned the house, when I replied positively, he told me that I had 5 minutes to evacuate the house. Meanwhile, I saw the soldiers arguing with my brothers and I realized that there was an intention my brothers' house."

He added, "When I inquired the soldiers about the fate of my furniture, he calmed me not to worry because everything would be evacuated. Together with my brother, we couldn't do anything, except to get our children out of the house, while the soldiers evacuated the furniture. They also forced us to stay 10 meters away from the house where I saw them throwing my furniture. When my brothers approached the soldiers to make sure they would not damage it, 10 soldiers attacked me and my brothers. One of the soldiers hit me with his boots on my foot causing it to bleed. They also pushed me on the muddy floor and began to call me with bad words. One of them threatened to kill me if I did not shut up. Later, the soldiers searched me after ordering me to take off my shirt. They also continued to beat me for 15 minutes, then they took me to the place where they seized my brothers and members of my family. I saw them demolishing the five houses including mine. The demolition process lasted until 1:00 after midnight, while we remained standing under the cold weather."

Jahaleen concluded, "I live with my family together with my brothers in this community which comprised of 32 persons. I raise five children of whom the oldest is 12 and the youngest is 8 months. Originally, we are Palestinian refugees from Tal Arad in Beer Sheva. Israeli authorities evicted us from there after 1951."
