Israeli Prison Services began punishing Palestinian prisoners

The Israeli prison service began punishing Palestinian prisoners who launched an open-ended hunger strike two days ago. According to a report by the Ministry of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners, Israeli prison service has isolated a number of the hunger strikers in specific sections and rooms, cut them off electricity and pulled out all electrical devices including TVs to prevent any contact between them and the outer work, in addition to banning the entry of newspapers.

Representative of the prisoners in Askalan prison Naser Abu Hmeid told ministry`s attorney Karim A`jwah that the prison service has threatened to transfer the strikers to different jails, to place part of them in solitary confinement and to ban visitations by families and attorneys.

The prisoners announced the names of members of leadership committee of the strike which has also been engaged in dialogue with the prison service in the prisons of Nafhah, Eshel, Askalan, Rimon and the solitary confinement. The names are the following:

A`la Abu Hirz, Abdel Rahim Abu Holi, Naser Hmeid and Mahmoud Hannoun from Fatah movement, Muhannad Shreim, Jamal al-Hour, Khlaed al-Hroub and Jouma` a-Tayeh from Hamas movement, A`ahed Abu Ghalameh from the PFLP, Zeid Bsiso from the Islamic Jihad and Osama Abu El-Assal from the DFLP.

Meanwhile, the female prisoners in H`Sharon prison announced on two-day hunger strike protesting the arbitrary measures by the prison service against them. A Prisoner Club`s attorney Fawaz Shalloudi said after meeting with them two days ago that their conditions is extremely bad and unstable and thus they had to return their bad meals last Wednesday and will return them also today.
