A Palestinian Became a Prisoner in his own Home from Apartheid Wall

Print PDF

JCSER condemned the closure of a road connecting Bethany and Abu Diess to Jerusalem. In an affidavit to JCSER Mr. Fayez Al Zaro stated that since February 28, 2006 all roads used by Palestinians leading to Jerusalem have been permanently shut by the Israeli army. Mr. Al Zaro who holds a Palestinian ID is not allowed to see his relatives on the other side of the Apartheid wall. Previously, when he needed to meet with his family members in Hebron and Bethany he used the back roads to reach them but now all roads have cut off by the wall and he can no longer reach them.

The Apartheid Wall has made Mr. Al Zaro a prisoner in his own home where he can not reach his relative who live in other Palestinian areas and can not reach occupied East Jerusalem. Thus, completely isolating him in prison and creating unsustainable living conditions.
