Minister of Prisoner Affairs Issa Qaraqe said on Thursday that Israeli Prison Services began distributing prisoners in isolation to regular cellblocks as part of the agreement reached between the prisoner leadership and the prison services to end the hunger strike. PFLP Secretary General Ahmad Saadat was among those transferred to normal cells including several others. Other prisoners are still waiting to be transferred including Ibrahim Hamed and Dirar abu Sisi while prisoner Mahmoud Issa, the longest standing prisoner in solidarity confinement has been transferred to the Hasharon prison after spending 12 years in isolation. Prison Society head Qaddoura Fares also said their legal unit was following up with prison authorities and the prisoner strike leadership on implementing the details of the agreement, namely ending solitary confinement, adding that some in isolation are in need of immediate medical attention. Fares also said intensive efforts were being made by the relevant parties to follow up on the health conditions of prisoners who were on hunger strike for extended periods, especially those in the Ramleh Prison Hospital Bilal Diab, Thaer Halahleh, Omar Safadi, Hasan Abu Shallal, Jafar Izzedin, Mahmoud Sirsik and Mohammed Al Taj. He said during a meeting with the Red Cross that the five need to be transferred to civilian hospitals for treatment. The Red Cross said it has put two doctors to look into the five prisoners conditions on a daily basis, saying they had been put on a special treatment program.
