Israeli police ordered Palestinian shops to close earlier on Sunday

Print PDF

Israeli police distributed orders to Old City shopkeepers yesterday demanding that they close their stores from 5:00 pm on Sunday on the occasion of so-called Jerusalem Day, saying there would be more pedestrians than usual. The order said that the demand was not mandatory. A number of shopkeepers told the police they would not close their shops, saying that even though the order said not mandatory the police would force them to close on the day in question in order to allow the right-wing settlers to march through the Old City.
