Relocation of the Interior Ministry's New Office Doesn't End Citizens' Suffering

Print PDF

During a visit conducted by JCSER's field researcher to the Israeli Interior Ministry's new office in Wadi Al-Joz neighborhood of Occupied East Jerusalem, it turned out that Palestinian citizens continue to suffer, as a result of waiting for long hours outside the offices of the Interior Ministry. The researcher was forced to wait for two hours from 8:00 until 10:00 am under the burning sun, due to lack of a proper mechanism to regulate the long queues. There are two sections: one for men and one for women, and the person depends on his / her physical strength in order to be able to enter the office.

The researcher confirmed that the electronic door was broken down more than once and was not open due to rushing of citizens. There are no special places for those who fill out the application forms. They stand on the sidewalk with no shades or rooms specially designed for this purpose.

A number of citizens who have prior appointments to enter the office are often forced to stand for long hours.
