The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights strongly condemned the use of unnecessary force by Israeli authorities using guns loaded with live ammunition during an attack on Beebers' family home, during which family members were barbarically beaten and a neighbor was seriously injured when he was shot in the chest. The Israeli authorities claim that Beebers' owe 5,000 shekels in back Arnona and hence, they seized the family's personal belongings to be auctioned off to cover the 5,000 shekels in back Arnona.

In an affidavit by Nadir Beebers to JCSER, the attack occurred on his brother, Jodi Beebers, and his neighbor, Majed Khamis during a violent home invasion by the Israeli authorities' collection department of the family's home. I was close by so I quickly rushed home after my father called my mobile phone to warn me of what has occurred. When I started to question the purpose of their presence, they started cursing at me and attacked my brother and me. During the attack, my brother was beaten and a gun was put to my head by the Israeli and pulled the trigger and luckily the gun did not fire. Otherwise I would not be giving this testimony right now. A neighbor, Majed Khamis, heard the noise and rushed to investigate what is incident, when he arrived the Israeli's shot him in the chest, seriously wounding him.The police were called and during the initial investigation the collection workers claimed they were subject to stabbing attempt. The police believed them and they were not arrested.

The Center reports, the owed amount does not exceed 5,000 shekels in Arnona back pay and the collection department utterly refused the family's offer to pay 2,500 shekels as first payment and to pay the rest on installments.

According to Nadir's affidavit, the Israeli's collection department previously seized camera equipment valued at 280,000 shekels without proof of any debts owed to them.

The Center's Director General, demands a transparent and immediate investigation into the matter asking, would such incident occur in West Jerusalem to an Israeli Jew? He also called on the international community to investigate all violations of this sort
