Temporary Residency Permit Granted To a Palestinian Jerusalemite

Print PDF

The Israeli Central Court forced the Interior Ministry to grant Walid Deeba's wife a one-year renewable temporary residency permit after the Ministry had been refusing to grant her the residency permit.

Lawyer Farid Mahajneh from the Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER), who followed up the case file, said the Interior Ministry had previously refused to grant a temporary residency permit to his client's wife under the pretext that she was a resident of Jordan, despite the fact that her husband submitted documents and papers proving her residency in Jerusalem.

He added, 'in the wake of the Interior Ministry's refusal, we decided to approach the Central Court and to submit all necessary papers and documents.'

The Court replied that the applicant's request to obtain a temporary residency permit cannot be refused in preparation for providing her with a permanent residency permit.
