Jerusalem ID Card Restored to Palestinian Resident

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has forced the Israeli Interior Ministry to retract a previous decision to withdraw the Jerusalem ID card of Hana Ali Hasan Mousa, a resident of Jabal Al-Mukabber, south of Jerusalems Old City. When she approached the Interior Ministrys office in East Jerusalem to renew the Jerusalem ID card she is required to carry, she was told that her card had been withdrawn since August 2002. The authorities claimed that she lives outside Jerusalems municipal boundaries.

JCSERs lawyer, Dina Shibli, sent a strongly-worded letter to the Interior Ministry, describing the Ministrys decision as arbitrary and confirming that Hana Mousa is a resident of Jerusalem. Mrs. Mousa has been teaching at the Al-Mamouniah school in East Jerusalem for 14 years.
