House Demolition Postponed for One Year and a Half

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has obtained a decision from the Jerusalem Municipal Court in West Jerusalem postponing the demolition of Nayef Kasteros 48-square-meter addition to his home for one year and a half. The property in question is located in Aqbet As-Sarayyah in the Old City of Occupied East Jerusalem. Mr. Kastro was given until mid-June 2005 to obtain a building permit. If he does not obtain a building permit by June 2005, the Jerusalem Municipality will be entitled to demolish the addition.

During a court session, a 24,000-shekel fine was imposed on Mr. Kastro, payable in sixty-eight monthly installments.

A bill of indictment was submitted by the Jerusalem Municipality against Mr. Kastro, with the accusation of violating a previous court decision. According to the decision, he was accused of failing to proceed with the procedures to obtain a building permit.
