Three Palestinian Houses Demolished in Occupied Jerusalem

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) condemns the demolition of three Palestinian houses in the areas of Tal Al-Foul and Wadi Qadoum of Occupied East Jerusalem, regarding the demolitions as grave violations of residents basic human rights, including their right to housing and residency.

Israeli bulldozers demolished Naim and Ismail Al-Risheqs houses in Tal Al-Foul in Beit Hanian, north of Occupied Jerusalem. The demolition resulted in the displacement of two families, consisting of nineteen family members. Naim Al-Risheqs house had a total area of 138 square meters and was home to nine family members, seven of whom are children. The demolition teams, accompanied by large police units, arrived at the site and threw the furniture outside the house prior to demolishing it. Ismail Al-Risheqs house had a total area of 230 square meters and was home to twelve family members. The house was under construction.

In Wadi Qadoum, near Silwan, south of Jerusalems Old City, Israeli bulldozers demolished Nour Mohammed Salaymehs 120-square-meter house. The house was home to three family members.

According to JCSERs data, with todays demolitions, Israeli occupation authorities have demolished three Palestinian houses in Occupied Jerusalem during January 2004, in addition to 122 houses destroyed during 2003.
