House Demolition Postponed

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has obtained a decision from the Jerusalem Municipal Court in West Jerusalem postponing the demolition of Amin Musbah Abu Nijmehs 80-square meter house in the Ath-Thori neighborhood, south of Occupied Jerusalem. A 24,000-shekel fine was imposed on Mr. Abu Nijmeh, payable in 48 monthly installments (an average of 1,000 shekels per payment).

Upon action by JCSERs lawyer, Dina Shibli, who is following up the case, Mr. Abu Nijmehs parents were dismissed from the bill of indictment. The Court took into consideration the housing crisis, which the family has been through, thus forcing it to build an addition to the familys home. Another consideration taken by the Court was the fact that Mr. Abu Nijmeh is a father of eight children, Ms. Shibli added.
