Palestinian Jerusalemite Children Registered & Family Reunification Approved

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has obtained the Interior Ministrys official approval to register three Palestinian Jerusalemite children on their mothers ID card. JCSERs lawyers Ziad Qawar and Dina Shibli received letters from the Interior Ministry, approving registry of Suheir Abu Sneinehs three children on her Jerusalem ID card, after the Ministry had earlier refused to do so. The Ministry continues to pursue the application, which was submitted by Mrs. Abu Sneineh, requesting a family reunification for her husband, Sadeq Abu Daoud.

Furthermore, the Ministry approved registry of Naser Abu Al-Hawas children on his Jerusalem ID card, in reply to a letter submitted by lawyer Dina Shibli.

JCSER also obtained a court decision forcing the Interior Ministry to issue a family reunification for Fuad Deibahs wife.

Unlike Israeli Jerusalemite families, who are not required to carry special Jerusalem ID cards or file for the right to live with their spouses in this way, Palestinian Jerusalemite families are often required to pursue such complex legal requirements in the Israeli courts.
