House Demolition Postponed for One Year and a Half

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has obtained a court decision postponing the demolition of Mohammed Eid Haddads 125-square meter house in Occupied East Jerusalem for one year and a half, during which period he will undertake the necessary procedures to obtain a building permit.

The Court also imposed a 45,000-shekel fine on Mr. Haddad, payable in fifty equal monthly installments, an average of 900 shekels per payment.

JCSER lawyer Ashraf Seif, who is following up the case, said, during a court session held on 1/2/2003, the Jerusalem Municipality requested Mr. Hadded to pay a 125,000-shekel fine on his house. However, the Municipality agreed during a court session held on 21/12/2003 to reduce the amount from 125,000 to 45,000 shekels, and to postpone the house demolition for one year and a half.
