JCSER Director General praised the recent position of the Swiss Ambassador to Israel, Iten Ernst, who refused to attend a West Jerusalem Municipality reception, because the location of the reception is not within Israels internationally acknowledged borders.

JCSER Director affirmed that the Ambassadors position is welcomed by both official and non-official Palestinian institutions in Occupied East Jerusalem. The stance embodies the policies of the Swiss nation, including its position in regard to regional and international conflicts and disputes, and its commitment to the upholding of international law.

According to yesterdays issue of the Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot, the Swiss Ambassador informed the Mayor of Jerusalem that he had decided to boycott the reception because the street where the reception is to be held, in the Givat Zeev Jewish-only settlement, is not located within Israels internationally acknowledged borders.
