Palestinian House Demolished in Beit Hanina

Print PDF

Under the protection of units of police and border guards, Israeli bulldozers have early today demolished Walid Khalil Al-Rajabis 270-square-meter-house in the Al-Aqbabe neighborhood in Beit Hanina, northern Jerusalem, with the authorities citing illegal construction. Mr. Rajabi is responsible for ten family members.

According to Mr. Rajabi, the demolition was carried out without any prior notice. I received a warning from the Jerusalem Municipality six months ago after which period I succeeded in obtaining a temporary court order preventing the demolition of the house.

The demolition of the house preceded a court session due to take place in order to look into the status of the house.

According to JCSERs data, with todays demolition the number of Palestinian structures demolished by Israeli occupation forces in Occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of January 2004 has risen to 36. At the same time, another twenty or more Palestinian houses are threatened with demolition in the Al-Aqabeh neighborhood.
