The Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights was able to attain a court order forcing the Ministry of Interior Office to grant a Jerusalemite Aiman Al-Jabry residency status and to issue a Jerusalem ID card. The Ministry of Interior Office has previously rejected Al-Jabrys family reunification application due to security reasons.

Lawyer Ziad Quwar said, the Center petitioned the court and the court issued a decision forcing the Ministry of Interior office to reconsider the file according to Israeli law. Two weeks later the Ministry of Interior office received a memo from the Attorney Generals office stating that Al-Jabry does not pose a threat and there is no objection on security record. Accordingly, the Ministry of Interior office had no choice but to grant the client residency status and issue him an ID card.

In another case, JCSER was able to attain a court order to delay a house demolition order until February 12, 2005.

Lawyer Ziad Quwar said in this matter, the court also imposed a fine of 38,000 shekels on Al-Jabry to be paid in the form of monthly installments of 500 shekels and to sign a guarantee in the amount of 20,000 shekels preventing him from breaking building codes in the future.
