JCSER was able to attain a Ministry of Interiors office an acceptance on a family reunification application for a Jordanian with his wife and four children, residents of Beit Hannina suburb, north of Jerusalem. Lawyer Dina Shibli said, the client was granted an acceptance on her husbands family reunification application and an extension on his residency permit. The Ministry of Interior also granted the client (mother) acceptance to register her children in her ID card. The Ministry of Interior, since May 12, 2002, has been enforcing a government decision to impose harsh restrictions on existing family reunification applications and to reject new ones by Palestinian Jerusalemites.

Relying on a legal precedent earlier this year, JCSER was able to attain a court order obliging the Ministry of Interior to reopen and reconsider all family reunification files that were previously rejected for reasons without any legal basis
