JCSER called on the Israeli authorities to step back from closing the voter registration centers in occupied Jerusalem and to issue new orders to reopen the registration centers. JCSER also petitioned the Israeli authorities to issue to its forces non-interference instructions to its forces in the January 2005 Palestinian presidential elections.

The Center confirmed in a previous press release the illegality of the closing of the voter registration centers under the pretext of Israels internal security that violates Oslos agreement. JCSER also urged the PNA and the Central Elections Commission to insist on including East Jerusalems municipalitys boundaries and on Jerusalemites to fully participate in the Palestinian elections in the struggle to preserve Jerusalems Palestinian identity.

JCSER called on all Jerusalemites to participate in the presidential election as a first step of the election process, ensuring them they would lose their Jerusalem ID or right of residency according to the political agreements signed by Israel.
