Over the past three days the Israeli authorities have destroyed more than 45 residential apartment units that have sheltered more than 250 Jerusalemite residents in addition to 27 barracks. According to a report prepared by JCSER more than 115 residential buildings have been destroyed since the beginning of 2004 that have included more than 170 residential units.

The most recent insensible act was yesterday in the north Jerusalem neighborhood of Biet Hannina, where a large force of police destroyed a house belonging to an elderly Jerusalemite woman (Suhaila Shabanah) that have sheltered a family of nine. In the two days prior to the above action, the Israeli bulldozers destroyed three residential buildings; two were just south of Anata each containing four apartments and the third was a five story building in the Biet Hannina neighborhood.

JCSER have described the recent escalation as the largest since the beginning of the year as the Israeli authorities have also handed dozens of additional demolition notices to Palestinian homeowners in various neighborhoods of Occupied Jerusalem.
