Family Reunification Application Approved Unconditionally

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) has obtained the Interior Ministrys official approval of a family reunification application submitted by Occupied Jerusalem resident, Samar Haddad, on behalf of her husband two years ago.

The Centers lawyer, Ashraf Seif, is following-up Mrs. Haddads case.

The Ministrys approval came after a petition was submitted by Mrs. Haddads name a month ago, requesting its approval of the application.

During a session last week, the Court approved the family reunification, viewing the move as exceptional and out of the ordinary.

The family reunification was submitted a sufficiently long time before the Interior Ministers May 2002 decision to freeze Palestinian residents family reunification applications.

The Centers Director, noted that the Ministrys approval of the family reunification application is important, as this is the first time the Ministry has approved a family reunification application for a long time, with thousands of applications currently either frozen or immediately rejected.

The Ministrys approval of the family reunification is also unconditional.

It is worth mentioning that over the past few weeks, the Center has succeeded in obtaining court orders, preventing some 45 Jerusalemite families from being deported.
