JCSER Calls for Immediate Release of Journalists Shahin & Sarhan

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) calls for the immediate release of Palestinian Journalists Khader Shahin & Mohammad Sarhan, stressing that their detention was unjustified. They were arrested as a result of an incitement campaign led by some Israeli media circles for political reasons against Khader Shahin.

JCSERs Director General, said The detention of Khader Shahin & Mohammad Sarhan, and before that Ithar Abu Gharbiyeh, came to cover up the grave violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt), which reached climax in the current aggression on Gaza Strip.

He pointed to the media blackout in the current war on Gaza Strip, with the aim of hiding information and the grave violations committed by Israel against civilians, including women and children, in which hundreds of civilians have been killed in the bombardment.

He criticized the Israeli media coverage of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli media conveyed unilateral picture of this unjustified war against civilians, in which the picture of the Palestinian victim was absent from the mass media which justified the war and regard as just and legitimate as understood from the news reports in the various mass media (both written & visual).
