The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) calls on Israeli occupation authorities to stop its restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshippers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Fridays and other days of the week citing security reasons.

A report issued by the Centers Research & Documentation Unit noted that Over the past four weeks, thousands of Palestinian worshippers have been denied access to Jerusalem and to the Al-Aqsa Mosque as well, due to Israels severe restrictions on residents movement, constituting a violation of freedom of worship.

The report noted that the Israeli police prevented Palestinians under the age of 50 from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for fear of actions in protest against the aggression.

It also referred to the excessive use of force by the Israeli police against Palestinian demonstrators who protested against being denied access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

During the four-week Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, a large-scale arrest campaign was carried out. Some 400 Palestinian Jerusalemites were arrested, of whom some were released and others are still in detention.

The Israeli police also used rubber bullets and tear gas against Palestinian protesters, injuring dozens of protestors. This constitutes another violation of individuals basic human right to peaceful demonstrations under international law.

Al-Aqsa Mosque employees have also been affected by the Israeli restrictions on residents movement. Ban orders have issued by high security parties against dozens of guards at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
