JCSERs Director General, expects that the number of Palestinian Jerusalemites, who will lose their residency right resulting from Israels construction of the Apartheid Wall around Jerusalem and the surrounding neighborhoods, will double. Tens of thousands of Palestinian Jerusalemites have been isolated in small ghettoes outside the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem. As a result, they will lose their residency right in Jerusalem, and their social and economic entitlements and benefits from the National Insurance Institute will be denied.

JCSERs legal unit receives complains from Palestinians about the loss of their social and economic rights under the pretext that they live outside the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem. This reality indicates that were are in front a new wave of ethnic cleansing that started in the mid 70s and culminated during the Second Intifada. More than 30,000 Palestinian Jerusalemites lost their residency right and those who have been taken out from the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem (125,000) are likely to lose their residency right in a few years later. They are regarded as temporary residents, not permanent residents, JCSER's Director said.

In return, the E1 Project to the east of Jerusalem, intensification of demolitions, expansion of Jewish settlements, and the construction of new ones around Jerusalem will double the number of Jewish settlers in Occupied East Jerusalem, reaching up to 300,000 settlers by the end of 2008 in return for 250,000 Palestinian Jerusalemites, half of them have been isolated by the construction of the Apartheid Wall.

He concluded, We are facing a demographic conflict in which the Israelis seek to maintain a Jewish majority and to reduce the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem to 12% only. During last year, the number of Palestinian Jerusalemites has increased to 35, a percentage which the Israelis regard as dangerous, despite the fact that thousands of settlers have been brought to live in the Jewish settlements surrounding Jerusalem and in the settlement communities inside Palestinian neighborhoods.
