PLO PROTESTS TO UNESCO REGARDING PALESTINIAN ARCHIVES AND DOCUMENTS

Print PDF
The PLO protested to the UNESCO yesterday because Palestinian archives and documents were included under title of Israel at the UNSCO International Digital Library Website. The PLO National and International Relations Department said in a letter sent to the Digital Library and to the UNESCO that this step reflects ignoring the rich heritage and roots of the Palestinian people. The PLO letter demanded rectifying the matter and introducing the manuscripts under the title of Palestine. The letter reminded the UNESCO of the acts of Israel since it occupied Historical Palestine in 1948 and the occupation that occurred in 1967 and how it forged historical facts after it confiscated the majority of the Palestinian documents and manuscripts and how it burnt and spoiled the Palestinian libraries. The letter continued: Israel continues to forge and steal Palestinian heritage symbols such as the Kuffieh, the embroidery and handcrafts and archeological stones of the Palestinian people and displays them as Israeli heritage. The PLO stressed in its letter on the need for the UNESCO to correct this big mistake and include all the Palestinian documents under the name of Palestine just like the rest of the peoples of the world so that the UNESCO can maintain its international credibility and the credibility of its websites in front of its visitors from all over the world.
