On Sunday October 24, 2010, while Israeli police were distributing house demolition orders in al-Bustan area in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, the Palestinian child Muhammad Harbi Abdel Samee' Abu Sbaih, 11, was on his way to buy some goods from a nearby shop. While he was standing at a distance of 10 meters away from the place where the Israeli police were stationed, he was hit with a rubber coated metal bullets in the head. Consequently, he was transferred to hospital for medical treatment where he underwent a surgery operation which lasted for six hours.

The kid's uncle, Nader Abu Sbaih told Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights, JCSER, "A group of children approached our home and informed us that my nephew was injured with bullets of the Israeli security. I rushed to the area and found him lying on the ground, in front of al-Fakhouri Shop while bleeding from his front head. I also found near him a metal bullet with a purple head.

I carried him on the spot and rushed to Abdallah al-Sheikh Medical Center which locates in Ras al-Amud area. The doctors there ordered his transfer to hospital because of his serious conditions."

"I later transferred him to al-Makassed Hospital where he underwent a surgery which lasted for six hours. According to the doctors' reports, he suffered of fracture in his head in addition of internal bleed. He was kept in the intensive care unit for 48 hours and needed to stay in hospital for one week."

An eyewitness, who preferred to keep his name anonymous, told JCSER, "The situation was very calm when the child sustained his injury. There were no clashes with the Israeli security. I saw a group of soldiers wearing black uniforms heading towards a group of Palestinian homes to hand their owners demolition orders. At that moment, I saw the child Muhammad Abu Sbaih looking from behind a wall facing al-Fakhouri shop. The soldiers were about few meters away from the Palestinian child."

"The situation was very calm and no stone throwing incidents took place. However, when I left the area, I heard shooting, so I decided to return. By then, I saw traces of blood on the ground, but I didn't see the child because his uncle took has already taken him to the medical center."
