Border Guards attack against a Palestinian woman and her children

The Palestinian child Abdallah Jamal Gheith, 17, reported on October 14, that his family received a phone call from director of the school in which his brother Mahmoud, 15, study in Ras al-Amud, informing them that his brother was arrested from in front the school.

He reported in his affidavit to the Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights, JCSER, "I immediately headed to the location where by brother was arrested. My mother followed me. We found my brother standing amidst a group of Israeli Border Guards. During was conversation with the soldiers about the reasons for arresting my brother who was on his way home while carrying a bag of bread loafs, my brother exploited the situation and fled from between the Border Guards. One of the soldiers tried to catch him, but he was able to escape.

By then, Israeli soldiers attacked me and put the shackles in my hands. Moreover, they forced me to stand up facing the wall. At that moment, my mother, Naheel al-Rajabi, arrived and she interfered by trying to convince the soldiers to release me. However, the soldiers refused to release me and instead they put me inside a military jeep of the Border Guards. When they began to hit me with their rifles buts on my stomach, I saw my mother running towards the jeep while screaming at the soldiers. However, one of the soldiers pushed her on the ground. At that moment, I began to shout at the soldiers to stop hitting my mother. Afterwards, the soldiers drove me in their jeep to the police station which locates outside Herald Gate. By then, one of the soldiers hit me on my face. In the police station, they accused me of attacking soldiers while on official mission. However, I denied the charges saying that they were nonsense. I also told them that I was preparing to leave for work, when receiving the phone call from the director of my brother's school about the arrest of my brother Mahmoud. Moreover, I informed my interrogators that only after the phone call, I left the house to see what was going on with my brother yet the soldiers hit and arrest me when my brother fled the seen.

After the interrogation, I was taken to the detention center in the Russian Compound where I was incarcerated for one day. I was released on the next day after I was forced to sign a bail of NIS 5000.

On her part, the mother Naheel Khader Gheith, 36 reported:

"When I reached the location where my son Mahmoud was arrested, I saw his brother Abdallah handcuffed, but I didn't see Mahmoud in the area. I was surprised for his disappearance, so I asked the soldiers about his place, yet they didn't care. My son Abdallah was taken away in a military car and I saw one of the soldiers hitting him with a rifle on his stomach. The child then fall on the jeep floor while screaming. I immediately rushed towards the military jeep, yet one of the soldiers hit me with his rifle on my chest causing me to fall on the ground unconscious. My brother Zuhair transferred me to Hadassah Hospital at the Mount Scopus. There, the doctors reported that I suffered of bruises and they gave me medication to relief my pains. I requested the hospital to call the police to report about the attack but the officials there turned down my request.
