Nabil Fahmi Taha reported the following incident to the Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights, JCSER:

"On November 14, my wife Randa, a holder of West Bank Id, accompanied with my daughter Amnah, 4, and tried to cross Shu'fat checkpoint at around 9:00 a.m. She was trying to reach Hadassah Hospital in Issawiyeh, in order to change the feeding tube of my handicapped daughter. Although Amnah is 4-year-old, she looks as if she is only one and half, because of her infection with a birth disease that restricts her growth."

"When both arrived at the checkpoint, the soldiers there refused to let them pass, although my wife showed the medical report of my daughter and the documents proving the date of appointment with the doctors. By then, my wife was carrying my daughter on her back."

"During the argument, one soldier tried to tear the documents, but my wife pulled the paper from his hands. One of the soldiers pushed my wife causing the baby to fall during which she hit her head with the iron gate of the pedestrian track. Then, my wife started to scream and threatened the soldiers that she was going to call the police. Later, another soldier who spoke Arabic interfered and ordered the first to let her pass."

"Actually, she was allowed to cross and later reported the incident to me in a phone call. Consequently, I rushed to meet my wife and I accompanied both to hospital. There, we transferred her to the intensive care unit instead of replacing the feeding tube. Results of the medical tests were released at 8:00 p.m. and accordingly we realized that she suffered of several bruises in the head."

"The hospital also refused to change the feeding tube until we pay for the costs of treatment of her injuries inflicted by the accident."

"Now, I suffer a lot because my daughter began to fear me and she always screams whenever I approach her."
