Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights, JCSER, calls upon the Israeli occupation authorities to remove the police surveillance post which was established atop a four - floor building amid Batn al-Hawah quarter in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.

According to JCSER, the checkpoint endangers seven Palestinian families living in the building. JCSER's Research and Documentation Unit, believes that the seven Palestinian families who are currently living in the building, in addition to the neighboring residents suffer of daily harassments by the police, while their children face real threats on their lives since the building is subjected to daily attacks by the youths in the area who target the police post on top of the building.

According to JCSER estimates, 40 persons live in the building distributed among the following families: Samyah al-Natsheh (5 members), Abed Abu Ramouz (6 members), Khaldoun Salah (4 members), Abu Azmi Abu Ermaileh (7 members), Abu Ahmad Abu Sarah (5 members), al-Fakhouri family (7 members) and Abu Hani Gheith (7 members).

Samya al-Natsheh (Um Ishak), who is a mother of five, reported to JCSER that her apartment, which locates in the fourth floor, has been affected by the attacks against the soldiers who are stationed in the area. She added, all the efforts which were exerted by the Palestinian residents to remove the station from their building have failed to bear fruits.

Residents of the building reported that the continuous presence of the soldiers on top of their building causes a permanent source of incitement for violence in the entire neighborhood.

Natsheh reported that members of her family can barely stay in their apartment due to the disturbing noises from the soldiers during their walk on the roof of the building. They also sit on the stairs, a fact that cause the women to accompany other family members when heading to the roof to hang the wash.

In the building, several persons suffer of various diseases which add to the posed dangers to their right to freedom of movement.
