Joint Teams Raid Palestinian Jerusalemites' Houses at Dawn to Inquire about their Sources of Income

Print PDF

The Jerusalem Center for Social & Economic Rights (JCSER) noted that joint teams of income tax and police have recently raided Palestinian houses in northern Occupied East Jerusalem, such as Beit Hanina, in the early morning hours. House-owners are being interrogated and questioned about their sources of income, and asked to present the lease contracts.

JCSER noted that some of the house raids occurred at 6:00 am, expressing astonishment for choosing this timing where most families are still sleeping.

JCSER wonders, 'Why police and tax teams are sent to Palestinian Jerusalemites' houses at this time? Does this occur in Jewish neighborhoods either in West Jerusalem or inside Israel?

The Center condemned these unjustified procedures, confirming that legal procedures should be taken against suspects instead of raiding safe houses by inspection teams and asking house-owners about their sources of income and the lease contracts.
